Nickname: Bobby started calling me “Quint” after the fisherman in the movie Jaws at Sea Otter this year, cause he said that I looked like a fisherman!
How long are you working with Specialized and how did you end up working for the company?
I have been with Specialized for four years. Ned Overend recruited me. I had been working for another team, which dispanded. Ned and the team manager of that team used to race together. Ned was looking for mechanics and as a result he called me having spoken to that previous manager.
How did you end up working in this industry and as one of the key players in The Specialized MTB Team?
I started being interested in bikes when I was eight and was always found tinkering around with stuff. My dad got me a job in this bike shop and it all developed from there.
How was your second season (2006) with Specialized?
I enjoyed the season, but I was not with the team entirely. I also spent time driving the USA Team Truck and working for the marketing department attending demo events, which was pretty fun.
What is your outlook on the team for 2008?
I am really excited to be full time with the team for 2007. I am looking forward to having a successful year leading up to the Olympic Year in 2008.
What do you do for fun?
I like to ride my bike. I have a XC Bike, a DH Bike, a trial bike and a road bike. I pretty much do it all. I do some XC riding, some jumping, some road racing and some cross racing. The only thing I don’t do is BMX.
I also enjoy backpacking and rock climbing – I suppose I love being outdoors.
How about family?
The majority of my family all live on the east coast and I am the otherside in the country in Portland, Oregon.
Love life?
Single!
Other Interests?
Photography and wood working.
If you were not where you are not what would you be doing?
Probably be president. Anybody can do it, I guess ….. right?
